Harry Potter

Harry potter uses a lot of different types of adverts to make sure that their film is reaching all audiences, this insures that they are connecting to a wide range of audiences, therefore meaning more people come to watch it resulting in a larger profit.

This picture can be seen on billboards on side of buildings, on buses and many other places. In this picture we see the Hogwarts building on fire. This straight away grabs the audiences attention and makes them ask question of why it is on fire, who did it or how did it happen? This curosity brings them to go and watch the film.
The colors used are much more dark and scary than Harry Potters past adverts this is due to the fact that Harry Potter films are now more aimed at the older generation as the films are becoming more dark and sinister.
The fire is the main attraction in this poster, it draws attention to the audience at straight glance as they colors pop. The orange in contrast to the black and dull background draw more attention to the fire.
Harry potter has become such a big part of many teens childhood, we have grown up with the Harry Potter 'family' and it has become part of our lives. Harry Potter first started out as a family film with humor and a cozy feel to it, but over the years Harry Potter has become more of a dark film. This has been shown through advertisment; they posters, billoards and trailers have all turned much darker. Through dull colors it gives the effect of a more dangerous film. This can have a negative and positve effect on the audience. The negative being some people maybe put off by the way the films have changed and don't enjoy the darker side of the film, however some people may be attracted to this new side of Harry Potter. From the films now changing new audience will be joining the fan base. Older generations will now see these films as not the young harry potter films they used to be but now as an adult film with drama but still with the harry potter humor to it.
Adverts overall show the type of film it is and also what audience will be attracted to it.

Sherlock Holmes Review

I have recently watched the film Sherlok Hommes staring Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. I really enjoyed watching it, the reason for this is that the humor used between the two character Jude Law and Robert Downey was done very well. The sarcastic comments they give to each other and the looks they share are very funny but not over powering.
I mostly enjoyed the flash backs, i thought that they were very useful. As Sherlok was explaning the mysterious scene that happened before hand by finding ' puzzel pieces' such as leftover explosion material, flashback occured showing the person before hand using the material. This then helped to explain what and why cetain thing are in rooms, helping to unravel the mysterious scene. Sherlok Hommes is filmed very cleverly, the flashback help the viewer to understand what had happened before hand making the film overall easier to follow.
The fighting scenes are also one of my favourite parts in the film, this is because i though that the way the slow motion was used was very effective. It was imaganitve and something i have not seen be used in any other film. I liked the way that the fight went back to normal speed after the slow motion, you were then able to see the moves that Sherlok explained and showed slowly before hand. This had an effect on the audiences as they knew what was going to happen, but were shocked when it was in the normal speed, as it was as if he was moving so fast you did not think he would be able to use the move he showed before hand.
Overall i really enjoyed watching Sherlok Hommes, i found that the acting was done extremly well and the camera angles used were very imaganitve and something i have not seen in other films. I would recomend anyone to watch this film.

Horror Stills

This picture is of a lady who has just slit her own wrists in the bath, we can see the knife she has used on the floor with blood droplets. I used natural light from outside, I had the door opened slightly so the light from the gap would highlight her arm which is cut as well as the knife on the floor. The picture is rather blurry due to the flash not being on and me not being able to have a more professional  camera, however I think this gives a good effect to the photo. Making it look blurry and shaky as if this is the women's sight fading as she slowly dies. This picture makes the audience wonder who the lady is as you cannot she her face as well as why she killed herself in the first place?
